AAMIR
KHAN SUPPORTS IMAGINEASIA FESTIVAL
You've
seen the film, enjoyed A R Rahman's music from the film....and now
you can meet the star of the film, Aamir Khan, for yourself. He
will be visiting the UK from 24 to 28 October in his role as Patron
of the British Film Institute's (bfi) nationwide celebration of
South Asian film, ImagineAsia.
Khan,
the star of Lagaan, which this March became India's first Oscar-nominated
film for over 40 years, will be appearing in person at the bfi's
National Film Theatre for a Guardian Interview on 27 October 2002
to discuss his career and read extracts from the forthcoming book
'The Spirit of Lagaan', by Satyajit Bhatkal, about the making of
the film.
Cary
Rajinder Sawhney, Director of the bfi's ImagineAsia festival says:
"Aamir Khan is one of India's finest actors and many in the
film industry see him as the most likely star to crossover from
Bollywood to Hollywood. Like ImagineAsia, his work not only covers
Bollywood but also arthouse cinema and we are delighted that he
has lent his support to our festival."
ImagineAsia
was launched in April 2002 by actress and writer Meera Syal, also
a Patron of the festival, and has brought hundreds of film screenings,
exhibitions and special events to audiences across the UK.
