  Jimi Mistry in Vic Sarin's film 'Partition' will be screened at the Bite the Mango Film Festival 2007.The 13th Bite the Mango festival will open with a preview of the film ‘Partition’ by director Vic Sarin.   Ghulam Sarwar The success of the first ever Pakistani Film, Media and Arts Festival held in Glasgow in September 2005, is to be showcased at the Edinburgh Filmhouse from 24-26 February 2006.   Aamir Khan's 'The Rising' will be shown at the Split Screen Film Festival in Bristol from 13-16 October 2005.Split Screen, Bristol's first Black & Asian Film Festival, from 13-16 October 2005 is a collaborative effort to give prominence to black and Asian filmmaking in the South West.   Bite the Mango  Film FestivalThe eleventh 'Bite The Mango' festival of world cinema will open on 23 September with the UK premiere of 'Black Friday' – the controversial drama which retells the story of the 1993 Mumbai bombings.   Pehlee Dharkan, Pakistani Film, Media & Arts Festival: 13-25 September 2005Europe's first ever Pakistani Film, Media and Arts Festival, 'Pehlee Dharkan' (literally meaning 'First Heartbeat' ) is coming to Scotland from 13-25 September 2005.   FESTIVAL OF PARTITION FILMS , 11 - 13 FEB 2005  
  Kirron Kher won a Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival for her role in Khamosh Pani (SIlent Water).In August 1947 the British divided colonial India and created an Independent India and Pakistan. The country's borders were re-defined along religious and ethnic lines and a mass exodus ensued. The Festival of Parition Films, which runs from 11-13 Feb highlights the impact of Partition on ordinary people. read more read more  
     
  TONGUES ON FIRE 2005 - SHORT FILM COMPETITION  
  Film CompetitionNow in the 7th year, the Tongues on Fire Film Festival is launching its annual short film competition to seek out new and undiscovered creative filmmakers. In a joint initiative with B4U Network, the best films will be shown at the 2005 Tongues on Fire Festival running from 4th - 30th March 2005 at the ICA.   The Times London Film Festival (22 October - 6 November 2003)This year's London Film Festival (October 22nd - November 6th) has a surprisingly low-key presence of films from the Indian sub-continent. Despite the fact that the British Film Institute honours Satyajit Ray with an annual award in his name, this year's entries in the 'World Cinema' category are sparse and only Hanif Kureishi's 'The Mother' will be receiving a gala opening during the festival. read more read more

  Contemporary Indian Cinema Season, 3 September - 26 October 2003 at The Riverside Studios in London.As part of its celebration of Black History Month, The Riverside Studios in London is running a Contemporary Indian Cinema season featuring a range of films from British-Asian Director Gurinder Chadha's 'Bhaji on the Beach', Deepa Mehta's 'Fire', director Asif Kapadia's 'The Warrior' to classics like Satyajit Ray's 'Pather Panchali' and 'Mother India'.   King of Dreams by Amar Kanwar is just one of the documentaries being screened at the Festival of South Asian Documentaries, 29th Nov - 1st Dec 2002.The Festival of South Asian Documentaries 2002 is a three day celebration of some of the most exciting work in South Asian non-fiction film-making. It will show fifteen of the best films from the Kathmandu Film South Asia Festival together with two films by Amar Kanwar and two films from new British Asian directors.   Sandhya Suri wins the BFI's Asian Short Film Competition 2002.27 year old Sandhya Suri has won the ImagineAsia Short Film Competition, organised by the Nehru Centre as part of the British Film Institute’s year-long festival, with a short film entitled 'Safar' (The Journey). The results were announced at a special ceremony held in London.
