ICICI
OPENS FOR BUSINESS IN MANCHESTER
(17 August 2005)
On
17th August 2005, ICICI Bank UK Ltd launched their branch in Manchester
to cater to the banking needs of those in the North of England.
This is ICICI Bank UK Ltd's third branch in England. Speaking on
the occasion, Mr Sonjoy Chatterjee, MD & CEO of ICICI Bank UK
Ltd commented 'We are delighted to offer our services to the residents
and businesses of Manchester. As a full service UK bank with a strong
product offering for both individuals and businesses, we believe
we are in a unique position to become the preferred provider of
financial services particularly for the Asian community in the UK.'
Remarking
on the longer term, Mr Chatterjee remarked 'We are keen to demonstrate
our serious intent in the UK market by offering products that are
more competitive than those offered by other high street banks not
simply for the reason of capturing market share but because we believe
that customers need to derive greater value than what they presently
get. For this reason we have brought to the UK market mainstream
products, such as HI-SAVE, which is an online no-frills savings
product offering UK's best savings rate at 5.40% AER, together with
a rate guarantee at a quarter percent over the Bank of England's
base rate.'
He
concluded 'likewise, our other specialised products like remittances
to India are also very competitive. I'm certain, we can service
the requirements of the people in Manchester to greater satisfaction.'
The
Manchester branch will be open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and is located
at 25 ' 31 Cheetham Hill Rd, Manchester, M4 4FY. Along with English,
the following languages are spoken by branch staff: Hindi, Gujarati,
Urdu and Punjabi.
ICICI
Bank UK Ltd. is wholly owned by India's second largest bank, ICICI
Bank.
