MANDEEP OVERCOMES DISABILITIES TO BE IN BUSINESS
(19 November 2005)

Mandeep LottaMandeep Lotta is on track to creating a thriving business thanks to the support of JobCentre Plus and Remploy Interwork, the largest provider of job opportunities for disabled people in the country. Thurrock based Mandeep, who is blind and physically impaired, found his disabilities were holding him back from finding suitable job opportunities. So he decided to start his own business Midhorizon Publications Ltd - which creates information leaflets and signs in Braille.

Receiving help from the Prince’s Trust on producing a business plan and registering the company, Mandeep has also gained advice and support from JobCentre Plus and Remploy Interwork. Remploy has been able to acquire a computer for him and the Access to Work programme provided the software.

Mandeep has already produced leaflets for Thurrock Independent Resource Centre and hopes to branch out to other public sector and commercial customers.

Remploy Interwork Employment Adviser, Pamela Richards, said: “Mandeep is an inspiration to all those people who say that a disability or incapacity stops them from achieving their ambitions. He has boundless enthusiasm and is determined to be a successful businessman.”

Mandeep said: “Thanks to the equipment and advice provided by Remploy Interwork and the other agencies, I am now well on the way to fulfilling my ambitions.”

Remploy Interwork has already supported over 3,500 people into work with leading employers. Call Interwork on 0845 845 2211 or visit www.realjobs4people.com
