CSM LAUNCHES ‘WHO’S WHO IN CSR IN INDIA’
(1 June 2006)

Malini MehraThe Centre for Social Markets (CSM), an India and UK-based non-profit group, launched the second edition of its flagship publication ‘Who’s Who in CSR in India: A Resource Guide 2006’. A practical guide to the key players and institutions in the emerging field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in India, the book was launched by Mr Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman Emeritus, NASSCOM & Past Chairman Xansa India Ltd. In his special address, Mr Srivastava stressed the importance of venture finance in new business models to create sustainable markets for the future.

The Resource Guide has become a must-use resource for businesses, NGOs, donor agencies, government bodies, academics and others looking for a way to navigate the increasingly diverse CSR field in India. At the same time, a key objective of the Resource Guide has been to develop a sense of identity amongst practitioners of their role in a wider and vibrant ‘CSR community’ in India.

Speaking at the launch, CSM’s founder and director, Ms Malini Mehra, said: “This guide is an important addition to materials from the developing world showing the progress of CSR in countries such as India. This guide is intended to promote learning, inspire action and improve co-ordination. We hope it will become an indispensable aid to managers and activists alike.”
