'RHYTHMSCAPE' FEATURING BIKRAM GHOSH - UK TOUR

Bikram Ghosh is possibly better known for being Ravi Shankar's tabla accompanist in recent years. However, his father Pandit Shankar Ghosh was one the early pioneers of new genres and fusion - especially when he worked with the 'Grateful Dead' in the USA. Bikram himself worked with George Harrison on his album "Brainwashed". So innovation and adventure seem to run in the family!

Bikram GhoshBikram's new dimensions in rhythm and melody - RHYTHMSCAPE- has been widely acclaimed in India and this is their first tour out of India. What makes RHYTHMSCAPE unique is that it stretches beyond rhythm and embraces soulful melodies creating a most intriguing fusion quite different from others in this field. The band is led by Bikram Ghosh on a multi-percussion level as he improvises on many different kinds of percussive instruments. The music of the electric violin duo Devshankar and Jyotishankar is totally spellbinding. The melodic content is further enhanced by Pulak Sarkar on keyboards and Desikan Parthasarathy - vocals. The band is then made complete by the fantastic rhythms of S. Sekhar on mridangam, Mukul Dongrey - drum-kit and V Suresh on ghatam. Bikram's brilliant tabla playing is thus complimented by his unique compositional skills to take his band into new directions.

Clearly Bikram has had many influences on his music acquired during years of travelling abroad performing with great artists in India and elsewhere, making his music accessible and attractive to a wide audience.
