RAVI
& ANOUSHKA SHANKAR
The European Tour - May 2003
World
music legend and multiple Grammy Award winner, Ravi Shankar returns
to Europe with daughter and protégé, Anoushka Shankar
for a series of concerts which sees his Full Circle world tour drawing
to a close.
The
world's most accomplished Indian classical musician and the man
who famously popularised Indian music in the sixties, Ravi Shankar's
inspirational career spans over seventy years, during which time
he has influenced artists as diverse as John Coltrane, George Harrison,
Yehudi Menuhin, Philip Glass and The Grateful Dead.
As
his daughters now step forward to claim the world stage for themselves,
the baton of Indian classical music ambassador is passed on to Anoushka.
Part
of a new generation of young Asian musicians, Anoushka Shankar brings
the classical Indian tradition into the contemporary. Young, beautiful,
dynamic and with a captivating stage presence, Anoushka is the perfect
embodiment of the dedication and devotion of a musician of great
skill and passion.
