HONEY KALARIA'S DANDIA CHALLENGE
(18 August 2003)

Honey Kalaria, one of the UK's leading British-Asian dancers, and some of the top students from Honey's Dance Academy, lead thousands of people in an attempt to set a World record for the greatest number of people to ever line dance Dandia together. The Guiness Book of Records attempt took place at the first ever Festival of Asia Event held at the Millennium Dome in London on the weekend of 23-25th August 2003.

Guiness Book of Records attempt by Honey Kalaria & her troupe of dancers.

However, the weekend event clashed with Janmashtami festivities - the celebration of Lord Krishna's birth - keeping thousands of Hindus away from the dandia challenge. Undaunted, Honey said "We were very excited about this opportunity to try and set a new World Record for the number of people to dance Dandia together. It was amazing event and we all look forward to taking part in Navratri in October".

HONEY’S DANCE ACADEMY ARRIVES IN UPTON PARK

Over the past year, the demand for classes at Honey’s Dance Academy, the UK’s leading British Asian dance academy, has reached fever pitch. The reason is obvious - the Academy is frequently approached by Bollywood and European directors and producers who are looking for dancers and extras to appear in blockbuster films and pop videos. Students at Honey’s Dance Academy have appeared in numerous International shows with Gareth Gates, in Bollywood films including 3KG, Mohabatein and Indian Babu, and in S-Club Juniors and Bond videos.

To meet growing demand, this September the Academy will, for the first time ever, start running dance courses in Upton Park, London. The first term of classes will begin on Thursday September 18th and finish on 11th December 2003. Kuntal Indulkar will be leading the classes. She is joining Honey’s Dance Academy direct from India where she has worked with many reputed choreographers including Farah Khan. She has also worked and choreographed routines with many mainstream Bollywood stars including Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerjee, Saif Ali Khan, Mahima Choudrey. She has worked on over 20 films, has appeared in Blockbusters like Kaante, Bollywood Queen and Heera Pheri and is known as one of India’s leading dance teachers.
