UK INDIAN DANCE CONTEST
Saturday 17 April 2004

UK's Indian Dance ContestStudents from all over the South of England will flock to Harrow Arts Centre on Saturday April 17th, 7pm, to battle it out in front of a packed auditorium. The students will dance as never before in order to try and win much sort after dance medals in the UK’s Indian Dance Contest. Dancers can choose whether to perform solo or as part of a group. They then enter one of the three different age ranges: 4-7years, 8-12years, 13-adults. This year more budding starlets then ever will enter.

Students have been preparing their dance routines for months. They have chosen names for their dance groups and are busy finishing off the costumes that they are designing especially for the night.

There promises to be some spectacular performances. Just some of the groups taking part include the imaginatively named; Star 6, Little Madams, Ban Than Dancers, Bollywood Angels, It’s Magic, Little Divas and Destiny… They will be performing to popular songs from Bollywood films and some toe tapping mainstream hits.

A variety of high profile Judges from the word of entertainment will study the eye-catching performances of various Indian dance forms including Bollywood, Indian Western, Indian Classical and Bhangra. Judges present will include Dr Malik - editor of Yoga Magazine, Karen Jones - Arts Development Project Manager from the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Suresh Kumar - Councillor of the London Borough of Redbridge, Mr Sira - actor and Sarita Saberwal - radio and TV presenter.

Anyone who would like to watch the spectacular evening of Indian dance can reserve tickets at a price of £10 for adults and £7 for under 16s, from Harrow Arts Centre Box Office, 020 8428 0123.
