When you’re a British Asian walking the tightrope of two cultures it’s not uncommon to become tipsy and lose your balance – especially if you’re Punjabi! So when a British Sikh actor becomes trapped between acting on stage and acting a good little Asian boy, he seeks comfort from a variety of zany ‘Sikhs in the City’ to make sense of a cultural cocktail that’s sipped by the British and drunk in gallons by Punjabis.

Sody Singh Kahlon takes a break from the dynamic comedy group The Funjabis to play a host of eccentric and extraordinary characters in this fast-paced, multi-media production of a powerful, provocative new comedy, which breaks new ground for the representation of Sikhs in British theatre. It’s some-Singh completely different!

Can the regimental granddad, his sweetly tyrant wife, the psychopathic schoolteacher, the Sikh punk-rocker, the medallion brother, the money mad uncle, the Singhsons family and the owner of the Turban Emporium prove that he’s not the ‘Weakest Singh’ after all?

‘Sikhs In The City’ celebrates 400 years of the first installation of the Sikh Holy Scriptures and features guest appearances from Nina Wadia (of Goodness Gracious Me fame) and Saeed Jaffrey, OBE.
