BBC 'MASTERCHEF' SERIES SEEKS ASIAN COOKS
(15 June 2005)

John TorodeAfter the success of the first series, the BBC programme 'Masterchef Goes Large' is again scouring the country for talented amateur chefs who want to make it big in the food industry. Hosted by John Torode - a professional chef who runs Smiths of Smithfield and Greg Wallace - a vegetable grower who supplies many large restaurants in London, the 'Masterchef' programme makers want people who are willing to embark on a culinary adventure.

Initially they will have their cooking ability assessed by industry experts, should they make it through this stage they have a chance to meet some of the biggest names in the cooking world, who will help, teach and assess them on their journey to become Masterchef.

Last years contestants found themselves cooking for Lords & Ladies, Celebrities, restaurant critics and 600 hungry sailors. They worked in all types of conditions from army field kitchens to Michelin starred restaurants. They learnt skills and received expert advice from some of the countries leading chefs, including Heston Blumenthal and Michel Roux jnr. The learning curve was steep but the rewards were excellent.

This is a competition for people who are passionate about food, and who believe they can cut it as a top chef. It's a real test of their abilities, an experience of a lifetime, an opportunity not to be missed. To apply fill in the application form on www.masterchefgoeslarge.tv or send a stamped addressed envelope to Masterchef, PO Box 50405, London, W8 4XF .
