FIRST ASIAN FEMALE NOMINATED FOR BROADCAST AWARDS
(14 June 2005)

MissyD - first Asian female presenter nominated for the CRCA Broadcast Awards. For the first time ever the Commercial Radio Companies Association NTL Broadcast Awards (CRCA) have nominated a British Asian presenter for the awards of 'Commercial Radio presenter of the year'. MisSyD of Club Asia Radio is not only the first Asian nominee, but also the first Asian Female to slug it out alongside Simon Hirst of Galaxy 105 and Justin Moorhouse of Key 103.

MisSyD the proud northerner who hails from Coventry, West Midlands has been in commercial radio for over a decade now. She started off in small commercial stations in the Midlands where her talent was spotted in 2001 by London's Young Asian hit Music Station, Club Asia. Today the ‘loud and proud' MisSyD anchors the station with her flagship weekday breakfast show from 6am to 10am. MisSyD is a household brand within Greater London's Asian community and is loved by her ever increasing audience,

Making history seems to be a regular occurrence for MisSyD , last year she was the only British Asian female nominated for ‘Radio Personality of the Year' at the UK Asian Music Awards 2004. MisSyD comments ‘ it is really great to be recognised for the job I love doing every morning. To be nominated has proved that being Brit Asian and female holds no bars when it comes to great entertainment being commended by Industry professionals.'

Even though MisSyD's first passion is and always will be radio, she is a multi talent individual as she is also a diverse Club DJ, vibrant host, inspirational speaker, and works with youth development. As if that was not enough, currently MisSyD is also finding the time to record her yet untitled debut album. The album is now in its finishing stages and is produced with the ingenious talent of Charlie Brown, on which MisSyD raps in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English, stamping her unique style on every single track. Her last single ‘Khenu Dasaa', which was release as a radio promo in April 2005 received rave review from both the industry and audience alike.

The CRCA awards, which seek to distinguish excellence in all aspects of commercial radio from production to presenting and are judged by industry professionals. They will be presented on Friday 24th June 2005 at a prestigious ceremony in London. Other nominees in the category of Commercial Radio Presenter of the year are Simon Hurst of Galaxy 105 and Justin Moorehouse of Key 103.
