BEST 100 DIVERSITY PRACTITIONERS IDENTIFIED
(29 September 2003)

Ralph Taberer, Chief Executive of the Teacher Training Agency with Elaine Sihera, Managing Director of AnserHouse of Marlow who have devised the Best 100 Diversity Practitioners List.AnSer House of Marlow UK, a leading authority on HR diversity practice, has launched the UK's 100 BEST DIVERSITY PRACTITIONERS league table. South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service leads the way, with only ONE commercial organisation (BT plc) in the top 10. Currently based on entry and success in the annual BRITISH DIVERSITY AWARDS, the new list is designed to emphasise the importance of effective diversity management, to encourage good practice by identifying role models and also to publicly recognise the commitment and achievement of many quiet, unsung heroes.

The introduction of the BEST 100 PRACTITIONERS diversity monitor is timed to coincide with the forthcoming 9th annual diversity awards in London, particularly to give diversity priority on the work agenda and to raise the awareness of organisations in how they can improve diversity management and genuine equity in their work environment. This list will eventually merge with that of the validated DP100 Index© members at a later time to effect a more comprehensive TOP 100. Members of that TOP 100 list would have to be validated and their scores revealed to the public. All other best practitioners would be part of the Diversity Network©, listed on the Website and promoted to the TOP 100 according to their practice scores. Revealing their scores would not be mandatory until they reach the TOP 100. Members of this validated list will also be termed "LEADING" practitioners.

TOP 10 of the BEST 100 DIVERSITY PRACTITIONERS

* South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service
* Central Liverpool PCT
* Inland Revenue
* The BBC
* Royal Navy
* Cabinet Office
* Birmingham City Council
* BT plc
* HBOS (formerly Halifax)
* BHB Primary Health Care Trust

ELAINE SIHERA, founder of the British Diversity Awards and author of "Managing the Diversity Maze" welcomed the new list adding: "Such a list is long overdue because too many organisations call themselves 'equal opportunity' or 'diversity' employers, often with little or no substance to the claim - lip service on a massive scale. Now members of under-represented groups like minorities and women can have a clear idea as to the establishments which would welcome them and are genuinely seeking greater inclusivity. At least, it gives both the organisation, customers and potential recruits a head start in the right direction. ALL organisations mentioned should feel some pride.

All nominees will be eligible for the prestigious Diversity Champion Practitioner's award, after a submitted Statement, at the 2003 BRITISH DIVERSITY AWARDS on October 31st. The only national awards of their kind in the world, the event has been a catalyst for significant employment change throughout the UK.

The full BEST 100 PRACTITIONERS list is on www.anserhouse.co.uk.
