Comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar, star of The Kumars at Number 42 and Goodness Gracious Me, returned to the University of Hertfordshire to accept a second degree. Sanjeev graduated from the University in 1985 with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies with Marketing. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Business School in recognition of his outstanding contribution to entertainment.

In true Kumars style, Sanjeev was accompanied to the ceremony by his real life parents, as well as his marketing lecturer Howard Dunton, who still teaches at the University today. Sanjeev achieved a Number One hit with the charity cover of Spirit in the Sky, with a little help from Gareth Gates and the rest of the Kumar clan in March this year and has appeared in the West End stage production of Art.

Sanjeev Bhaskar said: "This really is a great honour and finally puts to rest my jokes - my parents can finally say 'my son is a doctor!' I pay particular gratitude to all my university experiences, they played an important part in my journey through life. As Woody Allen once said 'we are the sum total of our choices, what defines you is what you do next not what you've just done."
