ATTA YAQUB BECOMES CHARITY RUN AMBASSADOR

Screen hunk, Atta Yaqub, star of the hugely successful Scottish movie 'Ae Fond Kiss' is one actor who will be going places over the next 4 months, quite literally. He has been chosen as an ambassador for the FRESH 'N' LO Great Scottish Run 2005 and plans on running the half-marathon event on September 4th in Glasgow. He will be making regular appearances at youth and community groups to encourage more participation from within the higher concentrated Black and Ethnic Minority Communities between now and then.

Atta firmly believes that this is a great opportunity for everyone to get a little more active, shed a few pounds and enjoy the fun of a mass participation event. He will be conveying this message at various events held throughout the year such as the upcoming Glasgow Mela in July. "I am extremely pleased to be promoting this event and really look forward to meeting members of the local community over the next 4 months. In addition, it will be great to share tips on how to prepare for the race as I will be training and running alongside the many thousands who attend from around Scotland. The event is great fun for all the family and also allows me to raise money for charity. Look out for me handing out entry forms in your local area!!'

This is the 24th year of the Great Scottish Run, an event organised by Glasgow City Council, which incorporates a Half-Marathon and a 10k for 15+ year olds and a separate 3k run for kids between the ages of 9-17 years.
