major new survey, by the think tank The Policy Exhange, finds younger
Muslims are much more likely to be inspired by Islamic fundamentalism.
Significantly, they exhibit a much stronger preference for Islamic
schools and sharia law and on asserting their identity publicly by
wearing the hijab.

actress Shilpa Shetty was tonight announced as the winner of Channel
4's 'Celebrity Big Brother' reality TV show, gaining 67% of the overall
votes cast. The programme has been the centre of controversy following
the airing of racist comments about the star.

MUSLIM HERO HONOURED AT FORCES MEMORIAL |
The
foundation stone of the Armed Forces Memorial was laid today at the
National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire and cemented into place
by members of Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi's family. Jabron was killed
in Afghanistan on 1 July 2006 while serving with 3rd Para Battle Group,
the first British Muslim soldier to be killed on active duty in Afghanistan.

AWARDS £5 MILLION FOR INDO-BRITISH R&D |
Gordon Brown has announced the successful applicants in the first
round of research awards under the UK-India Education and Research
Initiative. A total of over £5 million was awarded to teams
from over 70 institutions in the UK and India. The collaborating teams
will research areas such as environmentally friendly aeroplanes, climate
change and human genetic makeup.

Hindu Council today urged German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries
to reconsider suggestions for banning the use of the 'swastika' in
Europe because the proposed ban would have implications for the Hindu

Hindu organisations have called on EU parliamentarians not to bow
down to pressure to amend a draft report on Kashmir compiled by UK
