EDITORIAL COMMENT

It seems that Hindus are outraged at the killing of a 'sacred' cow at the Bhaktivedanta Manor this week. While I abhor the manner in which it was done, it seems that the authorities did have a warrant to "put down" the sick cow and as issues of Public Health and Bovine TB are of concern, particularly at a heavily visited temple, perhaps there is more than one side to this story?

Still it has come at rather an opportune time, particularly in taking the "heat off" the Hindus behind the Krishna-Avanti school - the first state-funded Hindu school in the UK - who have revised their discriminatory admissions policy. It seems it is now going to be up Hindu Priests to determine who is deemed "religious" enough to qualify for admission. I've got a better idea - why not stick all the names in a hat and pick out the lucky winners!

Honestly, when it comes to discrimination let it not be said that Hindus can't discriminate with the best of them! As I will now get emails of criticism for my stance, perhaps it is opportune to say that this will be the last enewsletter this year. I am now off for a much-needed break, or as luck would have it, an ill-timed collapse onto a sun lounger (I hope!)

Until next year,
