Editorial: Grinning for Britain!

Ritu Sethi with Lopa PatelThis week I was going to write a meaningful editorial about faith and faithlessness, but then I saw a picture of me with Ritu Sethi and I cracked up laughing - honestly, the pair of us could be advertising 'Macleans' toothpaste! Still it is testament to the fun-filled Asian Achievers Awards last night that showed how far Britain's South Asian community has come in the past four decades. Congratulations also to ISKCON, which celebrated its 40 years in London.

Maharaja: The Splendour of India’s Royal Courts' at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, 10 Oct - 17 Jan 2010, is the first exhibition to explore the world of the maharajas. The exhibition will bring together over 250 objects including Indian turban jewels and jewellery. read more read more

Asian Achievers Awards 2009
Nitin GanatraThe ninth annual Asian Achievers Awards, as organised by the Asian Business Publications Group, were celebrated on Thursday 3rd December 2009 at Wembley Stadium in London. Over 750 individuals had gathered to see chief guest Baroness Shriti Vadera honour Asians in nine categories. Among those recognised was actor Nitin Ganatra, who received an award for his contribution to the 'Food for Life' campaign. right arrow read more

Akshay Kumar with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar received the Olympic Torch from the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, at an inaugural event in Mumbai.
