Editorial: End of an Era

Mrs Lopa Patel MBE, Founder of Redhotcurry.comAs we slide helter-skelter towards the end of 2009, I have an "end of an era" feeling - indeed, 2010 will see the end of the "noughties". Was it a good decade for you? My feelings are mixed. Yes, I have had a terrific year personally - I've met The Queen, The British Prime Minister, The President of India and Shilpa Shetty (not sure which one I was most excited about!). I have also received a lot of attention which has been gratifying.

Seema Malhotra, co-Project Leader for GEO & The Cabinet Office on Public AppointmentsBut, this year has also been the first when I have been to more funerals than weddings...the early Asian immigrant generation are now leaving us and the impetus for change has never been greater. That is why one of the most satisfying projects for me this year has been the Hindu Council UK Public Appointments Strategy. 'Aim Higher' is its motto and Seema Malhotra, co-project leader for the Government's work on this issue, is offering us all a chance to do just that in 2010.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
