Editorial: 2010 - A Look Ahead

Dr Seema Sharma on 'The Secret Millionaire' programmeHappy New Year! This week's enewsletter is devoted to 2010: A Look Ahead. Tomorrow is the dance audition for Honey Kalaria's 'Bollywood Factor!' and Sunday sees the screening of '1984: A Sikh Story', Sonia Deol's personal journey into the events of the storming of The Golden Temple in Amritsar. Next week sees the start of Channel 4's Indian Winter season which begins with a screening of Oscar-winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' on Wednesday 13th January, 2010.

Dentist Seema Sharma is 'The Secret Millionaire' on C4 on 17th January (sshh!, don't let anyone else know) and legal-eagle Ritu Sethi is featured in her own Bollywood-style documentary. + Lots of book launches, restaurant openings and parties......how will I cope with all the excitement?!

Maharaja: The Splendour of India’s Royal Courts' at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, 10 Oct - 17 Jan 2010, is the first exhibition to explore the world of the maharajas. The exhibition will bring together over 250 objects including Indian turban jewels and jewellery. read more read more

Asians recognised in The Queen's New Year Honours List
Imtaz Khaliq MBEBespoke tailor, Imtaz Khaliq has been recognised with an MBE in The Queen's New Year's Honours List 2010. Imtaz, whose tailoring business has been established for over 18 years was recently named by 'Cosmopolitan' magazine as one of the four top tailors in London. Also honoured were restaurateurs Cyrus Todiwala and Iqbal Wahhab who both received an OBE. right arrow read more

'The Economist' cover (Jan 2 - 8,  2010)The 'Economist' magazine (Jan 2nd – 8th, 2010) features an excellent article on 'Female Power' and what happens when women are over half the workforce, as will be the case in the USA shortly. As expected, the 'Economist' article was well-balanced, concluding that women were "taking a sledgehammer to the remaining glass ceilings", but I couldn't help thinking that we need more 'last step' initiatives to help propel women into the boardroom. right arrow read more
