SCOTTISH CURRY AWARDS

The
Scottish Curry Awards took place on the 13th of
March 2008 in the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow. Guests
included: Carol Smillie, Shereen Nanjiani, John
Smeaton, Bernard Ponsonby, Lorraine Davidson,
Charan Gill and Dr. Wali Uddin.The hosts for the
evening were cookery writer Anjum Anand and the
comedian Jeff Mirza.
Edinburgh's
Britannia Spice was named as Restaurant of the
Year . Chief Executive Dr Wali Uddin said afterwards:
"This a great honour and we're absolutely thrilled!
This is the first time Scotland has organised
its own curry awards and it makes me very proud
of the industry here and what it has to offer.
I am very grateful, and proud of my customers
and my staff for putting Britannia Spice in this
position." The Edinburgh based restaurant has
won several notable awards over the last year
including a special lunch in January this year,
from the British Curry Awards to mark its winning
"Best in Scotland" for an unprecedented third
year in a row.
