Karen David wins Achievement Awards at Miss India Canda 2009

Meanwhile, singer, song-writer and actress, Karen David, was in high spirits at the 19th annual Miss India-Canada event after being honoured with the Special Achievement Award. Karen, who started out on the Miss India-Canada platform, before launching a successful singing and acting career, was invited back as the guest of honour at this year’s event.

The celebratory night, which is considered to be the biggest South Asian beauty pageant in North America, took place in Toronto, and brought together 16 Indian-Canadians who vied for the Miss India-Canada title. Crowning 25 year-old Aanchal Dogra as the new Miss India Canada 2009, Karen lavished praise on Indian culture and lauded the expatriate girls for keeping Indian traditions alive in the West. Karen also treated fans to a surprise electrifying performance of her single 'Magic Carpet Ride', which has fast become a favourite since its release this summer.
