'Happy Birthday to Me' is a beautiful collection of contemporary new writing from diverse voices, edited by Farhana Shaikh of 'The Asian Writer' that was launched in 2007 as a new online literary magazine to showcase the best of Asian writing. Celebration comes in many forms in this debut collection. Showcasing a myriad of Asian women writers including Roopa Farooki, Debjani Chatterjee, Shamshad Khan, Rukhsana Bhatti, Narinder Dosanjh and Hema Raman, the collection is a mixture of poetry and prose. It explores the themes of love and loss, belonging and identity, tradition and ambition from a female and male writer's perspective.

'Happy Birthday to Me' includes interviews with Man Booker Prize nominated Mohsin Hamid, Orange prize nominated Roopa Farooki and Winner of the Commonwealth Best book Prize 2010, Rana Dasgupta among others, capturing the experiences of writers from across the South Asian diaspora.
