Nina
is confused. She's confused about her career, her love life, her
faith and her future. Pretty everyday average concerns but then
not everyone pretends that their ex-boyfriend is a girl, or that
they are a Japanese male artist called Foruki.
A disastrous
day that begins with a spiritual guru who turns out not to have
so much healing hands as wandering ones and ends with Nina finding
her boyfriend in bed with someone else, with a quick detour via
losing your job alley leads Nina to have serious questions about
the choices she has made in life.
In
the space of a few hours, her life has reached a crossroads. Nina
has always yearned to be an artist, but her parents want a stable
career - and a stable relationship - for their daughter. So Nina
puts on a suit every day and pretends to go to work. But she's really
escaping to a studio where she paints for the first time in years.
When
her work is spotted by a top gallery owner, she panics and pretends
to be the artist's agent instead. Fabricating a name, identity,
an entire life for her 'client', she propels him towards ever-increasing
international acclaim.
Meanwhile
at home, she's agreed to an arranged marriage to keep the peace,
although she soon finds her heart pulled in an unexpected direction.
Having become adept in the art of deception, Nina must try and keep
her two worlds apart.
But
as they threaten to spectacularly collide and cause untold amounts
of damage, she must question who she really is once and for all.
ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Preethi
Nair is an author who writes about, among other issues, Identity.
This is probably due to the fact that when Preethi self-published
her first novel she had to masquerade as the publicist Preu Menon
in order to promote the book. Her success as Preu and the book led
to her discovery and her intriguing true story which rivals any
plotline, was unfurled.
Also
by Preethi Nair 'Gypsy
Masala' and '100
Shades of White'
