VEER-ZAARA
(U) 3 hours 12 mins
Contains very mild language and peril
Starring: Shah Rukh Khan
Directed by Yash Chopra
UK Release: 12 November 2004 |
Yash
Chopras forthcoming directorial movie after eight years
(last directed the blockbuster "Dil To Pagal Hai"),
'Veer-Zaara' is clearly the most anticipated movie of the year.
Yash Chopra pitches for a title in the custom of other immortal
romances like Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjha and Sohni Mahiwal. The
movie recounts the epic tale of an Indian Man, Veer Pratap Singh
(Shah Rukh Khan) and a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayaat Khans
(Preity Zinta) love that knows no boundaries and Saamiya Siddiqui
(Rani Mukerji), a Pakistani lawyers quest to break all barriers
separating the couple.
The
strong screenplay is the essence of this love legend that will
retain Yash Chopras reputation to bring a new meaning to
cinema. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and
Manoj Bajpai.
Adding
to the film's aura of passion and nostalgia is the music score
by the late and undoubtedly greatest Indian music composer to
have ever lived, Madan Mohan. Diehard fans of his spirited melodies
sung by India's nightingale Lata Mangeshkar would be enthralled
by the return of the imperishable composer-singer twosome. Madan
Mohan's son, Sanjeev Kohli, who dug out more than 150 unused tunes
of his father expressed that it's a dream come true for him to
recreate his father's unsung gems to suit today's tastes. With
lyrics by Javed Akhtar, it also features singers, Udit Narayan,
Sonu Nigam, Gurdas Mann, Roop Kumar Rathod and Ahmed & Mohhamed
Hussain.
The
music release of Veer-Zaara on September 18th will also mark the
launch of the Yash Raj Music label in India.
Veer-Zaara
with its exceptional music and an India-Pakistan romantic theme
is expected to create an unparalleled stir with its release this
Diwali.
