ASIAN
ART IN LONDON
4th 12th November 2004
The
seventh, annual, Asian Art in London, will take place this year
from the 4th-12th November, starting with a launch party for 500
at the V&A Museum on Friday 5th November. This
year the enormous range and extraordinary quality of Asian Art,
both antique and modern, assembled by the Participants, is a testament
as to how seriously London is seen as the centre for the Arts of
Asia.

During
the Event, Dealers galleries will hold special open evenings
for collectors and the curious alike, starting with a reception
held by Pimlico Dealer, Joss Graham on Thursday 4th of November.
The V&A, alongside its exhibition, Encounters: The Meeting
of Asia & Europe 1500-1800, will also hold a lecture on
The Jesuits and the Great Mughal: Renaissance at the imperial
court of India by G A Bailey and Asia Houses Asia
Body Mind & Spirit exhibition encompasses treasures from
the Wellcome Library. Institutions on the outskirts of London and
beyond also host exhibitions to coincide with the Asian Art in London
event such as The Fan Museums Pankha a show of
hand crafted fans.
From
a different corner of the Asian globe, Simon Ray Indian & Islamic
Works of Art has a stunning 18th century Turkish tile with the Tiger
Stripes or Buddha Lips motif, thought to have
originated in Central Asia and Samina Incs fabulous exhibition
will comprise Mughal & Deccan Indian Jewelled Arts from
the 17th-19th century. Prahlad Bubbar, will exhibit an array
of Indian Miniature paintings and pictures from the 16th-20th century.
Also in the Indian Miniature field, leading specialist Francesca
Galloway has an exhibition including Persian & Indian
miniatures.
