Born in 1950 in Pune, Maharashtra, Dattatraya is one of the leading artists from India, a modernist painter who has won all the major awards in the field of drawing, portraits, landscapes, calligraphy, sculpture and abstract art. He recently collected the highest award for his art at a ceremony in Mumbai. This exhibition represents his seventh one man show and is entitled 'Down Memory Lane'.

to a typical Indian village
where I spent
innocent days of my childhood.
Deep impressions
of that village life
still haunt me
and are an inseperable
part of my life.
People with innocence
and pure heart
who lead a stress-free
satisfied life,
unlike their urban counterparts,
deeply fascinate me.
Here I have tried to depict
the aesthetic value
of their simple & colourful life
on canvas."
