Indian artist, Prabha Mallesh, from Bangalore is well known in India for her development work of the ancient art form, ‘Mysore Style', which flourished under the patronage of the Mysore Kings from the 13th century. Mysore painting is an important form of classical South Indian painting that originated in the town of Mysore in Karnataka. These paintings are known for their elegance, muted colours, and attention to detail as well as their intricate gold leaf designs. The themes for most of these paintings are Hindu gods and goddesses and scenes from Hindu mythology. |
