Poulomi Usurp has taken inspiration from the ideas of French writer Jean-Richard Bloch (1884–1947), playwright, storyteller, essayist, political thinker, poet and anti-fascist, who called for an art that would associate the democratic tradition with mass culture in his essay “Naissance d’une Culture” (“Birth of a Culture” 1936) to launch the only contemporary art gallery in Harrow (Middlesex) and the first exhibition, aptly called 'Naissance', is on now.

Contributing Artists to the exhibition 'Naissance' - birth of a movement or organisation include: Mona Hatoum, Disinformation, Chila Burman, Jess Hurd, Alia Syed, Matt Jordan, Dulari Summaria, Jeremy James Wood & Nazneen Ayyub-Wood, Vistamundi, Steve Beresford, Sousan Luqman, Usurp, The Pardhan Gond Collective, Tokyo Rinpa Eshidan.
