Apache
Indian was the first British Asian artist
to break into the UK charts successfully
with over 8 top 40 hits. In the 90s,
clubs and festivals came alive in the summer
with AIs first smash hit called Boomshakalak
which has now been included in 7 Hollywood
films and most recently in the new Scooby
Doo flick Apache has sold over 11 million
albums and received various awards including
the Ivor Novellos, the Brit Awards
and a Mercury Music Prize.
When
Desmond first recorded the Israelites in the late 1960s, the
track became an anthem and was also the first reggae track to break
into the UK charts back then. This led to millions of sales and
future hits for Desmond Dekker, but it is the Israelites that he
is best remembered for and in recent times the track has been revived
for commercials which brought it back into the homes of many new
generations.
This
collaboration will be the first single to be lifted off the new
album from Apache Indian titled 'Time for Change' which also features
collaborations with Pras (fugees), Luciano and many more. 2005 see's
Apache continuing to tour the world with Womad where he will be
backed by the famous Reggae Revolution band. The album see's Apache
exploring the title in depth through music and lyrics - Time to
Change, and what better time than now...
