Over
the last couple of years there has been
a fusion of Asian vocals and music in r&b
and hip-hop, most notably in tracks like
Dr Dre's - Truth Hurts 'Addictive' and Redman's
'React'. As an original pioneer of the Asian/r&b
fusion sound, producer Rishi Rich is confident
that this is just the start of big things
to come. Rishi a 25 year-old British born
Asian from West London, has been incredibly
successful to date, producing 10 traditional
Asian music albums, while also producing
smash hit singles for Mis-teeq and Craig
David. Rishi not only creates Asian fusion
tracks, but has also produced pure hip-hop
beats for the likes of Fallacy and Estelle,
as well as r&b/pop tracks for the artists
such as Liberty X. Rishi is currently working
on productions for Britney Spears, Ricky
Martin and Mary J Blige.
Rishi
released his debut solo album 'Simply Rich' last year, where he
collaborated with 22 year old Punjabi vocalist Juggy D for the first
time, on the track 'Nahin Jeenaa', which ended up on top of the
Asian charts for 6 weeks. For his next single he wanted to add an
extra element, and hooked up with Jay Sean, a 22 year old r&b
singer and rapper, who had been performing as part of hip-hop act
'Compulsive Disorder'. Their single, 'Dance With You', is a real
'battle of the dialects' between Punjabi and English and is the
perfect collaboration of cutting edge production, traditional Punjabi
vocals and soulful r&b. On a recent visit to the UK, Jamaican
heavy-weight Wayne Wonder heard the track and immediately asked
if he could lay down additional vocals. The result is an innovative
re-mix which will undoubtedly propel 'Dance With You' to even greater
heights, bringing this exciting new UK fusion sound to the masses.
