Music -> Bollywood Royalty at ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ music launch
Bollywood Royalty at ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ music launch
24th November 2010

Abhishek Bachchan & Aishwarya Rai BachchanBollywood stars Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Sikander Kher, were joined by Her Highness, Maharani of Sawantwadi, Prince of Sawantwadi, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher at the music launch of ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, the latest project by Ashutosh Gowariker, the director behind the Oscar nominated film ‘Lagaan’. Towards the end of the music launch event the entire cast, along with the media, broke into an impromptu rendition of the national anthem followed by slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".

In true Indian patriotic spirit, all guests were requested to attend the event wearing hues of white and red including the lead actors, who sported the costumes of their on screen avatars. Their attire complimented the authentic and original methods of sound recording commonly used in 1960s and 1970s Bollywood before the modern music technologies of today’s industry were introduced.

Over 90 per cent of the music featured in ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ was actually recorded live, which is a rarity in Bollywood films these days according to Sohail Sen, Music Director of the film, who used a live strings section instead of modern pad and live double bass instead of bass guitar to compose the lasting soundtrack. The soundtrack of the film has been met with great critical acclaim. The title track ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, the most energetic sounding song of the film, was rendered by Suresh Wadkar’s Music Academy.

‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ is based on the novel “Do And Die” by Manini Chatterjee about the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. The period thriller was released in cinemas on Friday 3rd December 2010, distributed worldwide by Cinergy Independent Film Services Pvt. Ltd. Click here to read about the film.
