'Da
Showcase' is an album catering for the Asian
urban audience and Ezay hopes that his background
MC'ing in clubs and on various mix tapes
will help him now write tracks to showcase
the talents of up and coming Asian artists.
When I started DJing I use to
mix my rap 12 inches with some classic Indian
LP s - my first ever remix was Rick
James money sample some will
know as a Charlie Baltimore track with vocals
from Mughal E Azaam. I used to tell people
that the 2 types of music mix perfectly,
most people laughed, but since American
artists such as Dre and Timberland took
up the trend, people are now appreciating
this kind of fusion".
Ezay
hopes to continue the trend with the launch of video track 'Set
It Off', 'Anticipating' (Pakistani mix) and 'Chance' (English/Punjabi
Mix) all taken from 'Da Showcase'. The track 'Invasion' represents
Ezay's take on the lives of Asian people in the UK: how they started,
where they are today, how they live and are perceived and their
influence on Britain - all issues pertinent to Asian youth.
