The
award winning Shaanti will host The Big Chills Club Tent on
Sunday 3rd August featuring multi instrumentals Nitin Sawhney (DJ
Set), British alternative electronica band Asian Dub Foundation
Soundsystem, junglist and rapper UK Apache and desi-futurist pioneers
The Kalyan feat. Gubsy (on Dhol and electric Tabla) and Steve (Guitar)
and Anila (Samplers & Mix) live. Theyll be also joined
by Shaantis front man Manga and resident DJ MSC who be representing
Champion Sound - the underground illegitimate club-child
of Shaanti.
Manga,
Founder of Shaanti says: Its a honour to be invited
to host the first ever Global Asian Club tent at The Big Chill Festival.
Not only are we the first club brand to represent Asian broken and
fusion beats to the masses but well also the first to host
a club tent in a daytime setting, as a main music feature, alongside
the rest of the programming for this festival, he says.
"I
just want to host events what feels right at the moment without
thinking about genres, thankfully The Big Chill motions that same
notion." He ends.
Shaanti
arguably is one of the best global brands in the world. Still breaking
the rules, the music Shaanti represented has shifted over the nine
years as genres have progressed and developed. Tearing up genre
conventions by showcasing every genre of music under the sun, veering
from Asian breaks, Eastern drum n bass licks to searing electro
workouts, rowdy breaks to groove focused house and joining all the
dots in between. The musical direction is broad enough to deliver
a diverse offer, giving the crowds plenty of reason to dance up
to 6 hours straight on Sunday 3rd August.
