The
first Zoroastrian pop/rock artiste since Freddie Mercury of Queen,
Shayan has released his debut album 'Deliverance', through AMD via
Universal. The first track on the album, 'Soul' is already an award-winning
song. A gentle, yet passionate ballad that tugs at the heart strings,
Shayan won the Honorary Songwriters and Performers Award at the
Great American Songwriting Contest for his penning of the deeply
profound lyrics and he was a top 5 finalist at the 2004 VH1 International
Song Contest. It was also the first unsigned song to be played on
BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
Having
produced, written, arranged and performed the 11-track pop/rock
album himself, Shayan's sound has a unique sensuality and can be
described as a combination of Elton John, George Michael, Dido,
David Gray and Norah Jones, with each song oozing soul and emotion.
With exceptional lyrics that stir the soul and music that moves
the mind, Shayan's debut album, 'Deliverance' is already a huge
hit with high profile industry professionals.
ABOUT
SHAYAN
Born
in India, Shayan studied at the prestigious and world-renowned Doon
School, before pursuing a degree in International Trade Practices
and Procedures. He discovered his gift for making music six years
ago when he tragically lost his mother to cancer. Initially used
as a vehicle to express his emotions, family and friends were amazed
at how naturally music came to him and were impressed by the quality
of songs he was producing - especially given the fact that he never
had any formal training in the field.
His
ability to play the piano, sing, write and produce songs seemed
to come from an innate understanding of music. Sadly a year after
his mother, Shayan lost his father to multiple sclerosis (MS) and
promised to use his abilities to make a difference and hasn't looked
back since.
With
a BA degree already in hand, Shayan returned to college and within
four years got a MA in Music Business Management from Westminster
University and studied about music production at the Alchemea College
of Audio Engineering.
He
used his strong business acumen and set up an auction site on Ebay
selling shares in himself. For £3000, investors would get
0.25% of his life's earnings. The feedback was phenomenal and he
used the money to record demos and to research the industry. Once
the demos were recorded he was advised to set up a company to safeguard
the copyright.
Launching
his label, FM Publishing gave Shayan the platform to seriously begin
his music business. Despite having no production experience, an
investor took a chance and gave him the opportunity to record his
album.
Five
years in the making, 'Deliverance' is the result of Shayan's passion
and personal tragedy, which instigated his journey through music
and his ability to communicate the album's core messages of Belief;
Creation; Deliverance; Individuality and Soul.
