superstar Jay Sean, who shot to No 1 in the US
Billboard Hot 100 with his single 'Down', stole
the show at the UK Asian Music Awards 2010 held
at the Royal Festival Hall, London on 11 March
2010. Jay won all four of his nominations to pick
up the Best Male, Best Album, Best Video and Best
Urban act awards and has since becoming the highest
selling British artist in America since Elton
John. Hosted
by BBC Asian Network’s Bobby Friction and
Bollywood actress Sophie Choudry, the UK Asian
Music Awards (UK AMAs) saw performances from Dutch
‘desi’ Imran Khan, Universal’s
latest dance diva Jaya, rising Urban star Mumzy
Stranger, Bollywood superstars RDB, Bhangra heartthrob
Jaz Dhami and the legendary Talvin Singh.

DJ Ironik, Eastenders star Preeya Kalidas, award
winning director Gurinder Chadha (‘Bend

(‘Holby City’), Manish Bhasin (‘Match
of the Day’), American Idol finalist Anoop
Desai and the Sugababes, who also set the stage
alight with a very special performance.
