Two Asians launch UK Film company with £300 million investment
8th May 2011

Renu PatelUndaunted by the film industry downturn that has seen a 25% across-the-board slashing of public support from the UK government, Renu Patel of Kaybee Pictures and Gaurang Doshi have united to launch a film company with £300 million investment to produce quality global cinema. The fund plans to produce 12 films that will be shot in London over the next 3 years. In true 'filmi-style', the pair threw a lavish pre-Cannes party for 200 guests at the exclusive No 5 Cavendish Square hotel in London on Sunday 8th May 2011.

Ms Renu Patel established Kaybee Pictures as 2001 and is regarded by many as a pioneer of the British Asian Film industry. She has represented the British Asian Film Industry at Monaco International Film Festival, and won the Asian Achievers Award for Art, Media & Culture in 2007. As a real British campaigning powerhouse, her new feature film “London Life”, due for release in June 2011, tackles the contemporary issue of student immigration.

According to Patel “even though the advent of multiculturalism across the UK has created many more avenues for minorities, it is an absolute necessity for the longevity of global cinema to internationalise our art of story telling and break down all barriers”. Both companies have been involved in film production and film finance for over 45yrs producing box office blockbusters in India to add to their growing credits.

Gaurang DoshiMr Gaurang Doshi runs Gaurang Doshi Productions, earlier known as V.R Pictures established by his late father Mr Vinodrai Doshi. Doshi is the only Indian film producer to make history by achieving four Limca (Guinness) Book of Records for “Aankhen”. It was the first ever Hindi film to be remade into English by a Hollywood production company and the first time a CD ROM game was introduced and made for a film. Doshi's 'Bhawander' (The Sandstorm) won 7 National and International awards and he holds the record for the highest ever insurance of Rs. 30 Crores to date for the film “Deewaar”! Gaurang Doshi is the inspiration behind the stories of the upcoming 12 films.

The 12 Films will have a leading Hollywood and Hindi cast and will be produced jointly by Kaybee Pictures & Gaurang Doshi Productions over the next 3yrs with a total funds of £300 million:
