NAZIA HASSAN FOUNDATION BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION 2008
(24 April 2008)

Lord Ahmed of RotherhamThe Nazia Hassan Foundation, set up in memory of the famous songstress, organised a seminar to celebrate her birthday on Thursday 24th April 2008. The event was hosted by Lord Ahmed of Rotherham at the House of Lords and generated much debate on the topic of 'Is Britain a well integrated multicultural and multiracial melting pot?'. Lord Herman Ouseley gave the keynote address on the same topic, followed by a poem by Reginald Massey in honour of Nazia. Sabih Behzad anchored the seminar with a vote of thanks given by Zahra Hassan.

ABOUT THE NAZIA HASSAN FOUNDATION

Muniza and Basir Hassan and Zoheb Hassan, the parents and brother of singing sensation the late Nazia Hassan, officially launched a foundation in memory of the singer in October 2003. The Nazia Hassan foundation exists to promote harmony and peace amongst communities and to encourage the fusion of values and ideas of the East and the West. Nazia, along with brother Zoheb was the pioneer of pop and disco music on the Indian subcontinent and is best remembered for her hit song 'Aap Jaise Koi'.
