A groundbreaking play that has enjoyed a sell out tour, explores the Oldham riots and is devised and performed by five Oldham-based Asian performers who witnessed the riots first hand.

'JUST BEFORE THE RAIN' touches upon the roles that politics, police and media practitioners had to play in the disturbances, highlighting the issues and practices that must be addressed to prevent a recurrence.

The play is the unmediated and uncensored voice of British Asian youth, all too rarely heard. The play examines in detail the conflicts and cultural tensions which led to rioting in 2001

It mixes first hand accounts, humour, poetry, movement and a strong visual sense with a banging hip hop soundtrack, and marks the first-national tour for Peshkar Productions- the North West's leading South Asian theatre company.
