ATTACK ON INDIANS FUELS DEBATE ON EXTREMISM
Meera ShankarIndia's Ambassador in Germany Meera Shankar voiced concern at the mob attack which left eight of her countrymen injured in the eastern German town of Muegeln. OXFAM CALL FOR RADICAL RETHINKING ON FLOOD POLICIES

Oxfam says that the construction of river embankments (defences), can make matters worse. In India's worst hit area, Bihar, embankments have nearly trebled the flood-prone area from 2.5 million hectares to 6.9 million hectares. read more read more

OXFAM LAUNCHES APPEAL FOR SOUTH ASIAN FLOODS

Photo: OxfamInternational aid agency Oxfam today launched a £1 million appeal for its work to help nearly 500,000 flood victims in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The money will be spent on delivering food, emergency shelter, hygiene items and clean water and safe sanitation. Altogether 20 million people have been affected by flooding in the region. read more read more
 
APPEAL LAUNCHED FOR SOUTH ASIA FLOODS
