SEWA INTERNATIONAL DONATES £10K TO BRENT YOUTH
(6 July 2007)

Sewa International Volunteers- presenting cheque for £10,000 to Barry Gardiner MP (Right) with staff & students giving thumbs up.Leading Indian charity, Sewa International HAS donated £10,001 towards the activities of 'Move It' in Brent - a pioneering scheme which provides young people with the opportunity to take part in over 20 sports, but also to organise, manage and run sports competitions, and become qualified as leaders and coaches and gain paid employment working with other youngsters on the project.

Move It Chairman - Barry Gardiner MP welcomed the donation of Sewa International and remarked: "As a charity - Move It is totally dependent on grants and donations to keep activities going. This funding from Sewa International will go a significant way towards next year's programme. I am delighted that Sewa have agreed the donation and know that it will help improve the lives and opportunities of so many young people in the borough."

Sanjay Jagatia, spokesman for Sewa International commented: "We are delighted to support youth development in Brent. Through organised opportunities like those provided by Move It, we believe that young people not only stand to gain from the skills of the sports they participate in, but furthermore they gain in confidence in their everyday lives. ."

ABOUT SEWA INTERNATIONAL

Sewa International is committed to working with local causes and charities by providing their know-how and expertise as well as by helping these groups with their fundraising initiatives by motivating a volunteering network to assist them. Sewa International is a charity of Indian origin that came into prominence in the 90s when huge natural disasters affected India.

Working in partnership with business leaders, politicians, civic society and community members, Sewa International have raised funds for various tragedies internationally. Sewa International is a service project of registered charity - HSS (UK) - registered charity no: 267309.

ABOUT 'MOVE IT'

Move It, run by registered charity Brent North Youth Sports Pilot Project, currently operates in four secondary schools in the borough - Claremont High, Kingsbury High, Preston Manor High and Wembley High Technology College. Pupils in years 7 to 9 get the chance to participate in many sports of their choice, pupils in years 10 and 11 are working towards leadership and coaching qualifications and can gain valuable experience running Move It festivals and pupils in years 12 and 13 can be employed as coaches on the project.
