Women's
National Commission launches 'Women in Public
Life' events
9 - 11 December 2009
The
Women's National Commission (WNC), funded by the
Government Equalities Office, has launched a national
'Women in Public Life' events programme, starting
with three morning events in the South East of
England. Commencing with a networking breakfast,
the small, informal events will include short
presentations by inspirational women who are involved
in shaping our communities and society at large,
practical tools to help women take those first
steps in applying for appointments and an opportunity
to learn more about what being involved in public
life actually means.
"Taking part in public
life could mean anything from being appointed
to the Board of a public body, being a local councillor
or school governor, or being involved in your
local tenants association or NHS Trust. There
are plenty of opportunities for women to use their
professional skills and life experiences, and
these WNC events aim to encourage women to have
the confidence to give it a go!" said the
the WNC.
