Barnet honours the Indian dead on Remembrance Sunday

Cllr Ansuya Sodha lays a wreath to remember the men and women of the Indian Sub-Continent who gave their lives in the First & Second World Wars.In a moving Remembrance Sunday ceremony organised on 14th November 2010 by the London Borough of Barnet, Cllr Ansuya Sodha of West Hendon Ward laid a wreath in memory of the men and women of the Indian Sub-Continent who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars. The Remembrance Day ceremony organised at the Hendon War Memorial saw wreaths being laid by the Worshipful Mayor, Cllr Anthony Finn; Cllr Lynne Hillian, the leader of the Council of the London Borough of Barnet; Second Lieutenant Heath Craster on behalf of the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment; Mr Matthew Offord MP for Hendon; Cllr Richard Cornelius on behalf of the Conservative Group of the London Borough of Barnet; Cllr Alison Moor on behalf of the Labour Group of the London Borough of Barnet, Cllr Susette Palmer on behalf of the Liberal Democrat Group of the London Borough of Barnet and Cllr Agnes Slocombe on behalf of the African & Caribbean Ex-Service men and women of the borough, as well as that of Cllr Ansuya Sodha's.



Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the following organisations: West Hendon's Ex-Servicemen's Club; Monash Branch of the Royal British Legion; The RAF Association, Hendon District Branch; Old Hendon's Ex-Servicemen's Club; Hendon & Golders Green Branch of the Jewish Ex-Servicemen and women; Hampstead Branch of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and women; Royal Order of Buffaloes; Hendon Fire Station; Our Lady of Dolours Roman Catholic Church Hendon; St Mary's C of E Church, Hendon; Hendon Baptist Church; The Salvation Army; St John Ambulance Hendon Division Adults; Training Ship Broadsword, Sea Training Corps; Marine Cadets; Girls' Nautical Training Section; Junior Section of the Sea Training Corps; Sea Pirates; St John Ambulance Hendon Division Cadets; 120 Squadron, Hendon Air Training Corps; Barnet Volunteer Police Cadets; 4th Hendon Brownies; Golders Green and Hendon District and Guides and St John's C of E Church, West Hendon. The marching band and music was provided by the Hendon Salvation Army and the Hendon Sea Training Corps.
