Lakshmi Mittal doubles his fortune to top Britain's Rich List 2010

Lakshmi Mittal has once again topped The Sunday Times Rich List, published on 25th April 2010 with a fortune of £22.45 billion. Compiled by Philip Beresford, the list notes that fortunes in Britain are soaring as the world recovers from the 2008-09 crash. As a result, the collective wealth of the 1,000 multimillionaires in the 2010 Sunday Times Rich List has climbed to £335.5 billion, up £77.265 billion on 2009. This is a 29.9% increase, easily the biggest annual rise in the 22 years of the Rich List. The speed and scope of the turn around in rich fortunes has been remarkable.

In at Number 1, Lakshmi Mittal, the steel tycoon, saw his fortune more than double from £10.8 billion a year ago, to £22.45 billion this year. Anil Agarwal, the Indian-born but London-based mining to metals tycoon, saw his fortune rise to £4.1 billion after languishing at £600m last year. Although the 'Asian Rich List' was not specifically published this year, the Sunday Times does list Britain's 20 Richest Asian Millionaires.
