| New
Hindu School in Harrow Appoints Head Teacher and
Opens Applications
30th January 2012
Avanti
House, a new free state school for pupils aged 4
to 18 to be based in Harrow, has announced the appointment
Gareth Jones (60) as its new Head teacher - a key
milestone towards its opening later this year. Mr
Jones has most recently served as the Head of Secondary
School Improvement for Essex where he has been in
charge of raising standards across the countys
76 secondary schools. Avanti House, is part of Avanti
Schools Trust and associated with iFoundation, the
education charity behind the highly successful Krishna
Avanti Primary School (KAPS) on Camrose Avenue,
Edgware. Only three years after opening, KAPS is
amongst the best in Harrow and has delivered some
of the highest KS1 academic results in the area.
Nitesh
Gor, Director of the Avanti Schools Trust and
Chair of Governors at the fledging Avanti House,
is determined to apply the Foundations expertise
and outstanding record to the delivery of its
latest project. Gor says: Appointing such
an experienced Head teacher is a crucial step
in ensuring that the Avanti Schools Trust family
of schools continues its record of delivering
only the very highest standard of education to
its pupils and parents. Our vision is for a school
that nurtures each student on their own journey
of self-discovery. The school will not have any
faith criteria for entry but it will have a dual
specialism in Mathematics and Performing Arts
and so will have 10% of places prioritised by
aptitude. The remainder of places will be based
upon random allocation and distance.
The Schools sister
school is currently 5-6 times oversubscribed and
it is anticipated that the new Avanti House will
also quickly become oversubscribed. Parents are
now invited to apply for the limited Reception
and Year 7 places. Earlier applications will be
prioritised and so parents are encouraged to apply
as quickly as possible. An application made to
Avanti House School will NOT affect offers made
by other schools that is to say, parents
will be able to hold two possible offers for places;
one made by the Local Authority and another from
Avanti House.
