GAURI ADVANI

Gauri AdvaniGauri Advani was born and educated to be a lawyer in New Delhi. From 1989 to 1990 she acted as Special Assistant to the Leader of Opposition in the Indian Parliament. After seven years of an extremely successful legal career in India Gauri made the life changing decision in 1996 to move to England and qualified to become a solicitor for England and Wales.

Starting right at the bottom of the legal ladder once again, Gauri applied herself diligently, completing a Fellowship at the University of London's Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in 1996 and qualifying as a solicitor in the UK 1998. This began her rapid rise as one of the UK's most senior female Asian lawyers.

She then went on to become the Head of the India Group at Dentons in 2003. Gauri was the first Asian woman to hold this position at a City law firm. Today Gauri is head of the India Group at the global law firm Eversheds and continues her work in project finance, private power generation projects and infrastructure projects in the Indian sub continent. She now leads a team that is working every day on many aspects of the law in India and benefiting Indian society as a whole.
