KAREN DAVID

Karen DavidKaren David, born in Shillong at the foot of the Himalayas and raised in Toronto came to the UK in 1997 to attend the Guildford Acting School. Karen's first step into the world of acting came at just six years old, when she appeared on a TV commercial for Jell-O with Bing Cosby. At 17 Karen won a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music to study jazz and gospel, and it was here she discovered her flair for song writing.

Karen was part of the original cast of Mamma Mia and worked with A R Rahman developing the material for Bombay Dreams. In 1999 Karen was voted the Best Unsigned Artist by BMI and in 2000 was signed by EMI. As well as Karen's singing and song writing she has also appeared in a number of independent films and in Batman Begins. Karen is currently being introduced as a new cast member in the BBC drama Belonging.

Karen's role in the forthcoming movie Provoked, based on the life of Kiranjit Ahuwalia, starring Aishwarya Rai, Shaheen Khan and Robbie Coltrane, has brought her considerable attention. Karen has once again worked with A R Rahman to produce Alive, the powerful theme music that captures the essence of the film.

Working with EMI, Stuart Crichton and Jony Rockstar Karen wrote the song Me vs Me, the title of her much anticipated first album due for release in April.
