MENHRI NIKNAM MBE

For more than two decades, Mehri Niknam has worked tirelessly on Muslim-Jewish relations. She is the founder and executive of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation, an officially registered Muslim-Jewish organisation. Before taking on that mantle, she was in charge of the Maimonides Foundation. The Iran-born scholar’s work is based on the idea that Jews and Muslims have in the past lived together harmoniously and that it’s important they continue to do so, especially in countries where both groups are minorities.

In 2005, Niknam was awarded the MBE for her services to Jewish-Muslim relations while in 2006, she was made Honorary Fellow of Leo Baeck College, the Reform Rabbinic Seminary in Europe.
