NARGIS KHAN

Labour councillor for the borough of Hackney in London, and commissioner on the government’s commission for integration and cohesion, Nargis Khan is a great believer in the notion that cooperation can open minds and break down societal stereotypes.

Her extensive studies in the field of international relations mean she has a thorough academic understanding of the relationship between the Middle East and the West and its underlying conflicts. Coupled with this, Khan has travelled extensively; volunteering for organisations that she believed would bring change to substandard living conditions around the world.

On a national level, Khan works with ministers and senior civil servants to shape future policy and debate to build a more tolerant Britain. Locally, Khan is focused on ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the Hackney community have access to top-quality council services.

As one of the most senior Asian women in British politics today, and is undoubtedly a role model in her own right.
