PREETHI NAIR

Preethi NairBorn in Kerala in 1971, Preethi came to England as a child. After University, she became a management consultant, all the while dreaming of being a published novelist. Eventually she left her job to embrace the life of a writer and, convince that her leap of faith would be rewarded, sent the manuscript of her novel 'Gypsy Masala' to a variety of publishers expecting it to be snapped up. It wasn't.

Without a job and having been rejected by most publishers, Preethi withdrew the deposit from the flat she was about to purchase and used the money to set up her own publishing company and appointed freelance PR consultant Pru Menon (aka Preethi Nair) to hype the book.

Preethi gained considerable press coverage and after two years, signed a three-book deal with Harper Collins. She won the Asian Woman of Achievement Award 2001 for her endeavours and, as her alter ego Pru, was shortlisted as the 'Publicist of the Year' for the PPC Awards.

'100 Shades of White', her first novel with Harper Collins has been bought by the BBC for a TV adaptation and her third novel 'Beyond Indigo' was published in August 2004 along with a reissue of 'Gypsy Masala'.
